A lacing hook is a small, durable fastener used to hold bungee or stretch cords in place. You mostly see them on bakkies (pickup trucks), trailers, and boats to secure tarpaulins and canvas covers. They are also used to keep cargo nets tight.
Usually made of tough, UV-resistant nylon or marine-grade stainless steel, these hooks are built to survive the harsh outdoor elements. They are screwed or riveted to the side of a vehicle or boat. When it is time to tie down a load, you simply pull the stretch cord (or bungee cord) under the hook. The curve of the hook holds the elastic cord securely without letting it slip off.
